Dan Helmer Receives Endorsement from National Veterans’ Group VoteVets

Fairfax, VA  –  Today, Dan Helmer, Democratic candidate for Congress in VA-10, received the endorsement of the national veterans’ group, VoteVets.  The mission of VoteVets is to give voice to veterans on the every day issues that affect them and their families.

“VoteVets has successfully supported a number of progressive veterans for public office, and I am deeply honored to be the latest recipient of their endorsement. The dedicated public servants who they support are leaders on issues ranging from national security and the environment to our economy, and I am humbled by their confidence in me to serve the people of VA-10,” said Dan Helmer.

In Congress, Dan will improve our security and act as a fierce advocate for our troops and for the necessity of providing them with the training and equipment they need to do the jobs that are asked of them. He will help maintain strong alliances and will advocate for the destruction of ISIS and the prevention of nuclear proliferation. He will ensure that our veterans have access to high quality healthcare and resources and that the spouses of service members have the opportunity to pursue meaningful careers.

Dan Helmer is a veteran of the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, a Rhodes Scholar, a Bronze star winner and a business strategist.

VoteVets PAC Endorses Helmer for Congress

FAIRFAX, VA – The largest progressive veterans group in America, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing Dan Helmer for Congress, in Virginia’s 10th District.

“As the son and grandson of immigrants, who wore the uniform of the United States, Dan Helmer is as American as it gets.  He has what it takes to win, and go on to serve Virginia in Congress,” said Rick Hegdahl, Veterans Outreach Director for VoteVets PAC. “But, more importantly, the spirit of service is a part of his core, and that is what will help make him an exemplary representative and servant for the people of Virginia.  He will be a Congressman that the people can be proud to call their own.”

According to his biography, after high school Helmer enrolled at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and, over the course of his military career, served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and South Korea, earning a bronze star during his service.
