DAVE HANSON, FORMER CANDIDATE IN VA-10 RACE, ENDORSES DAN HELMER
Calls Helmer "The Only Candidate Who Can Beat Barbara Comstock in November"
Sterling, VA - Today, Dave Hanson, who was previously a Democratic candidate in the race to take on Barbara Comstock in Virginia's 10th Congressional District, endorsed Dan Helmer for that seat.
Helmer is the first candidate in the VA-10 primary to be endorsed by another former candidate.
Hanson said, "I believe that Dan is the only candidate who can beat Barbara Comstock in November. We need a candidate who will be able to fight through Comstock’s vicious attacks and stand toe-to-toe with her on policy, and Dan is the person who can do that."
Hanson spoke of his own reasons for launching a campaign for this seat, and why he is supporting Dan: "I launched my own campaign in this race because I believe that our national security is under threat. As a career Naval Intelligence Officer, I am incredibly concerned about Russia’s interference in our election, and the fact that our President is not addressing that threat. In the absence of leadership on this issue from the President, we need Congress to act. Dan understands the threats that our country faces today, and has the courage and experience to tackle them head-on."
Hanson is joining Helmer's National Security Advisory Council, a group of national security and foreign policy professionals who have endorsed Helmer and who serve as advisors. Other members of the Council include Michelle Flournoy, Former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy; the last two Deputy Directors of the CIA during the Obama Administration, David Cohen and Avril Haines; Ambassador Reuben Brigety; Major General (Retired) Gale Pollock; Rear Admiral (Retired) Mike Smith; and numerous other Ambassadors and Generals.
